The 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 Redesign Has Arrived

GMC officially revealed the fifth-generation Sierra 1500 on June 25, 2026. The new generation is led by the flagship Denali Ultimate and the new AT4X off-roader, both built on a confirmed four-engine lineup (two of them all-new V8s) and a redesigned cabin with class-leading screen real estate. The first 2027 Sierra 1500 models are expected at GMC dealerships before the end of the 2026 calendar year. GMC announced starting MSRP by trim on September 22, 2026; see pricing below.

2027 Sierra 1500 Denali Ultimate

The Denali Ultimate is the most luxurious Sierra ever, with a standard sixth-generation 6.6L V8 (the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class), a class-leading screen layout with the most combined digital display area in its class, per GMC, forged wood interior accents, and a standard three-year Super Cruise subscription with trailering. Class-exclusive Bose Premium Series audio with front head-restraint speakers, an articulating center screen with hidden storage, and a standard panoramic sunroof round out the flagship treatment.

Powertrain and Capability

The 2027 Sierra 1500 pairs four precision-engineered powertrains with a 10-speed automatic. Two all-new V8 gas engines lead the lineup: the 5.7L V8 and the 6.6L V8, the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class. The class-exclusive Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel returns for buyers who want efficiency and torque, and the enhanced TurboMax 2.7L delivers best-in-class standard torque. Official output, towing, and payload are now confirmed for every engine: up to 481 horsepower and 501 lb-ft of torque, with maximum towing up to 13,500 lbs and maximum payload up to 2,310 lbs depending on engine. The 13,500 lb figure requires an Elevation Double Cab 4WD standard bed with the 5.7L V8, Trailer Technology Package, Max Trailering Package, spray-on bedliner, 20-inch wheels and all-terrain tires; other configurations tow less. Two All-New V8 Engines

The available 6.6L V8 is the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 in its class, joined by a strong, capable 5.7L V8. No other competitor in the class offers an available diesel, and the Duramax 3.0L Turbo-Diesel continues for the 2027 Sierra.

New Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers

On the AT4X, new Multimatic Jounce Control Dampers add stability and control on the road and keep the truck composed over extreme terrain. Paired with 35-inch MT tires, front and rear e-lockers, and a 2-inch lift, the AT4X is the most off-road-capable Sierra ever built.

A Class-Leading Interior Built Around Three Screens

Every 2027 Sierra trim gets a redesigned interior. The centerpiece is a triple-screen layout anchored by a 16.3-inch articulating infotainment display with hidden storage behind it, a 12.2-inch driver display, and an available 11.5-inch front passenger screen with an articulating cover. Combined, that adds up to more than 60 inches of digital real estate, the most in the class, per GMC. The new MultiPro center console folds flat into a stable work surface and houses USB charge ports below. Real wood is available, forged wood is standard on Denali Ultimate, and a panoramic sunroof is standard on AT4X and Denali Ultimate. What Colors Does the 2027 GMC Sierra 1500 Come In?

GMC is bringing three new finishes to the 2027 Sierra 1500 while carrying six over from the outgoing truck, and it is retiring three. Every new finish is an extra-cost option. The third new finish is Mesa Red, confirmed in GMC's June 25, 2026 release alongside Azurite Blue Metallic and Dark Ridge Metallic; all three are premium colors at additional cost. Three colors from the outgoing truck do not return: Downpour Metallic, Titanium Rush Metallic, and Volcanic Red Tintcoat. Which Colors Does the 2027 Sierra AT4 Come In?

The trim and color selector on gmc.com shows the 2027 Sierra AT4 and AT4X in six finishes: Onyx Black, Summit White, Sterling Metallic, Coastal Dune, Dark Ridge Metallic, and Mesa Red. Pro and Elevation add Cardinal Red for seven. Denali and Denali Ultimate drop Mesa Red, Cardinal Red, and Summit White in favor of Azurite Blue Metallic and Glacier White Tricoat, for six finishes: Onyx Black, Sterling Metallic, Coastal Dune, Dark Ridge Metallic, Azurite Blue Metallic, and Glacier White Tricoat.

Does the 2027 Sierra 1500 Offer a Color Out Package?

GMC has not announced a Color Out package for the 2027 Sierra 1500. The June 25, 2026 GMC release lists the AT4X AEV Edition, a new Chrome Exterior Package, the Max Trailering Package, and the Texas Edition, and the gmc.com 2027 Sierra 1500 page adds nothing further as of September 6, 2026. If GMC publishes a Color Out package, its contents, the trims it is offered on, and its price will be added here the same day.

2027 Sierra 1500 Interior Colors by Trim

GMC has confirmed at least seven interior colorways for the new Sierra, with Denali carrying the widest choice at three combinations. Every other announced trim gets a single colorway matched to its character.

What Makes the 2027 Sierra 1500 a Big Deal

The current Sierra 1500 launched as a 2019 model and received a significant mid-cycle refresh for 2022. The 2027 model year is the first ground-up redesign in nearly a decade. It shares its updated GM full-size truck architecture with the next-generation Chevrolet Silverado 1500. For Tampa-area truck buyers, that means two clear paths: the 2026 Sierra 1500 closes out a proven generation with known pricing and in-stock availability, and the 2027 brings new V8 power, a new interior, and a redesigned exterior with confirmed trim lineup. Heavy-duty shoppers: GM revealed the updated 2027 Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD on September 24, 2026, with a new Duramax 8.3L Turbo-Diesel V8 (555 hp, 1,230 lb-ft) and gooseneck towing of up to 38,000 lb when properly equipped, expected at dealers beginning late 2026.
