What is not in dispute: GMC has published no order guide, no pricing, and no reveal for a redesigned 2027 Canyon. Until an order guide exists, treat any specific claim about new 2027 Canyon styling or features as unconfirmed. Four Things the 2027 Canyon Is Not
These four come up constantly in search, and the answer to every one is no. If you are shopping the Canyon against a Tacoma or a Ranger, knowing what it does not offer is as useful as knowing what it does.
Canyon Denali Ultimate
There is no Canyon Denali Ultimate. Denali Ultimate exists on Sierra 1500 and Yukon, not on the mid-size Canyon. The Canyon lineup tops out at Denali, and that is the full luxury trim.
Canyon Diesel
The Canyon has not offered a diesel since the previous generation's 2.8L Duramax. The third generation is gasoline only. If you want a Duramax from GMC, that means Sierra 1500 or the HD trucks.
Canyon Hybrid
No hybrid or plug-in hybrid Canyon exists or has been announced for 2027. The Toyota Tacoma offers a hybrid in this segment; GMC has chosen a single turbocharged gas engine instead.
Canyon V6
The V6 left with the previous generation. Every third-generation Canyon uses the 2.7L TurboMax four-cylinder, which produces more torque than the old 3.6L V6 did.

2027 GMC Canyon Trim Levels
Four trims, each a meaningful step rather than a trim-badge change. Every one uses the same engine and the same Crew Cab short-bed body, so the walk is about hardware, suspension, and interior content.
The base trim and the volume seller. Off-road-tuned suspension is standard even here, along with an 11.3-inch center touchscreen and an 11-inch driver display. Gloss black 18-inch wheels, and available in Coastal Dune as shown in GMC's 2027 photography.
Adds genuine off-road hardware over Elevation: a wider track, more ground clearance, and 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain rubber. The middle of the range and the sweet spot for buyers who actually leave pavement occasionally.
The most capable Canyon. Front and rear locking differentials, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and a further lift over AT4. The Extreme Off-Road Package pushes it further still. GMC has not released 2027 AT4X photography, so it is not pictured on this page.

The cabin carries over from the current generation. The gap between trims is material rather than layout: Elevation runs an all-black interior, while Denali gets real wood trim carrying the topographic Denali inlay and Jet Black with Teak leather.
One Engine, Across the Whole Lineup
The Canyon's single-engine strategy is unusual in the segment and it is deliberate. Where the Tacoma and Ranger spread buyers across multiple powertrains, every Canyon from Elevation to Denali gets the same 2.7L TurboMax. Simpler to order, simpler to service, and no trim-locked engine upgrade to negotiate.
